Congratulations Milla & Lachlan!
millocky’s wedding, 14 January 2017, Mill About Vineyard
(millocky = Milla Mihailova and Lachlan Fraser)
Every day we make a hundred tiny decisions. Some are routine, some are trivial, and some hold rich consequence. Six years ago, Milla decided to have breakfast at Blueberry Café in Geelong. Probably because they served pancakes.
Locky was a waiter there, young and earnest who possessed some romantic strategies that were called upon when Milla walked in. She couldn't have known it then, but Locky was very quickly abusing staff protocol and servicing a table well outside his jurisdiction
- while tables he was actually
assigned to were terribly neglected.
Locky lavished that table with attention. Menus were swiftly provided, recommendations enthusiastically offered. Milla wanted the pancakes, but she was also starting to wonder about the waiter. When she gave her order, Locky praised her: "The fried flour and water -- an excellent
Milla was charmed. She was also equally active in plotting a date. When she volunteered that she was new to Geelong, Locky saw his opportunity. Beneath the disguise of sunny helpfulness he offered tips about his hometown's nightlife and sketched for her a map of the city's waterfront and places of interest. Beneath this, he wrote his phone number
These were the bright and hopeful games of young love - love that flourished and matured, and culminated in Locky and Milla’s perfect wedding day on 14 January 2017 at Mill About Vineyard in Southern Barossa.
It wasn’t a function-room-wedding preceded by glib formalities. It was a country wedding – rustic style, romantic and fun, at Milla’s parents’ property - elegantly reimagined by the owners, to become a charming and truly original wedding venue.
The wedding guests didn’t see the labour and negotiation that had gone into the place in the previous 12 months – the hard and thoughtful work, the countless hours of landscaping, making tables from Red Gum slabs, sewing chair covers from hessian bags, perfecting floral art - to make the bridal bouquet and all floral arrangements, hanging hundreds of meters of fairy lights, building a wedding arch - the list goes on.
Imagination, initiative and collaboration resulted in something unique – the best wedding venue for Milla and Locky: Mill About Vineyard
There was a storm the day before, anxiety run high - but on the wedding day it all came together as by magic! The sun came out just in time, the wind became a welcoming breeze, the flowers bloomed as planned ... Even the resident possum came back to the Ceremony Tree exactly on the day and observed the proceedings from above - as a special good luck talisman :-)
The beautiful young couple Milla and Locky got married in the company of Milla's sister Stella as Maid of Honour and the rest of the bridal party, and in the presence of close family and friends on both sides.
So much happiness on that wonderful day!
